Alpine Visitor Center Trailhead From this trailhead, access the Forest Canyon Pass trail, an easy, downhill, 2 mile hike.

  • Keep a cautious eye out for foxes; they've become very used to people and will get close enough that you have to scare them away so they don't stick their nose in your oatmeal bowl.

  • East Inlet Trail out and back The East Inlet trail is similar to the North Inlet trail when considering mileage and elevation gain, but its greatest difference is the off-trail sections that the hiker encounters, which are higher in elevation as they approach the more difficult-to-get-to lakes, such as fourth and fifth lakes.
